YOUSUF MAZHAR

Yousuf joined De Novo Ventures in March 2008. Prior to De Novo, Yousuf was a Manager at Kaiser Permanente Ventures working on investments in both medical devices and healthcare IT. Yousuf is also credited with co-developing Kaiser Permanente’s first internal mergers and acquisitions practice, which transacted the first hospital acquisition for the organization in 17 years. He also worked for Kaiser’s Competitive Intelligence group, helping develop hospital and health plan market strategies.
 
Prior to Kaiser, Yousuf was in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Hambrecht & Quist (subsequently J.P. Morgan) and in the Fixed Income Derivatives and Financial Products group at UBS. During his tenure in investment banking he gained significant experience in both the debt and equity sides of corporate finance where he executed over $14B in transactions.
 
Yousuf has worked in business development for healthcare start-ups, including Tengion, a clinical stage regenerative medicine biotechnology company, and Sanovia, a pharmaceutical utilization technology company.
 
Yousuf holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School, and concurrently earned a Master’s in Biotechnology Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated at the top of his class, and an M.B.A. with honors from the Wharton School. He is a member of the Board for the Penn Engineering Alumni Society.
